The Ukrainian Helsinki Union is the largest association of human rights organizations in Ukraine. It defends human rights, gives advice, and provides representation in court.

The Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union provides free legal aid through its network of Public Advice Centers in almost 20 Ukrainian cities.

- Protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms before courts, state authorities, and local governments; legal aid provision to individuals to protect their rights and freedoms
- Ongoing monitoring of observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Ukraine and reporting on violations of rights and freedoms
- Research on human rights and fundamental freedoms, including ongoing monitoring of law drafts and other regulations
- Training in human rights; conducting educational events and campaigns, seminars, trainings, conferences, schools, etc.
- Development and support of the network of human rights organizations
